Tribute to the Unsung Stewards

In the 1800s, a vine-killing blight swept Europe, nearly erasing centuries of winemaking. Resistant American rootstock offered salvation, but the cure changed the vines' essence. A few families quietly preserved clippings from their original vines, safeguarding Old World heritage. One bold visionary smuggled these prized roots to California soil, where they found new life. From the belief that great wine should be shared, not hoarded, Stolen Roots was born. We make wines that fuse Old World tradition with New World spirit.

Current Releases

Each wine is sourced from select sites across Santa Barbara County and produced in limited quantities. We believe place matters, so we let it lead. Our portfolio is intentionally small and vineyard specific. Allocations are offered to members first.

2022 Syrah Syrah / Shiraz - Alisos Canyon

100% Syrah, sustainably farmed, grown on native rootstock from the esteemed Thompson Vineyard and produce with minimal intervention.

Full-bodied, big boy red with notes of blackberry, pepper, and spices. The perfect steak wine on a Saturday night.

2022 Grenache - Alisos Canyon

The grapes in this bottle are from only two rows of coveted vines in Block 1c at Thompson Vineyard that we were lucky enough to find while walking the vineyard. These are grown on native rootstock and the farming is done naturally to promote a diverse and balanced ecosystem

This light to mid bodied red was aged in neutral French oak for 11 months. We chose that time in barrel to preserve its fruit forward old world characteristics. Some find hint's of vanilla, cherry, and anise. Pairs well with pork and lamb.
